Spooky Scary Skeletons by LVCRFT

“Spooky Scary Skeletons” is LVCRFT’s version of Andrew Gold’s Halloween classic, released September 4, 2020 and featured on LVCRFT’s second album, The Sequel. It keeps the famous tongue-twister lyrics and adds a new rap verse about skeletons playing their bones like xylophones.

Listen on Apple Music or Spotify.

What it sounds like

A midtempo 109 BPM funk and dance groove with a hip-hop edge. Bass, drums and synths sit under Scary Ana Grande and DejaVudu’s vocals, giving the classic Halloween novelty song a dreamy, danceable makeover.

What it’s about

Skeletons who only want to socialize, and everyone too spooked to let them. The song plays fear for laughs: shrieking skulls, skeletons sneaking out of their sarcophagi, and dancing bones under flashing disco chandeliers.

Spooky Scary Skeletons lyrics

Chorus
Spooky scary skeletons
Send shivers down your spine
Shrieking skulls will shock your soul
Steal your doom tonight
(That’s right!)

Spooky scary skeletons
Speak with such a screech
You’ll shake and shudder in surprise
To hear these zombies shriek

Verse 1
We’re so sorry, skeletons
You’re so misunderstood
You only want to socialize
But I don’t think we should

Chorus
Cause spooky scary skeletons
Shout startling shrilly screams
They’ll sneak from their sarcophagus
And just won’t leave you be
(No No)

(Spooky Scary)
(Spooky Scary)
(Spooky)
(Spooky)

Verse 2
Spirits supernatural
So why what’s all the fuss?
Bags of bones seem so unsafe
It’s semi-serious

Chorus
Spooky scary skeletons
Are silly all the same
They’ll smile and scrabble slowly by
And drive you so insane
(That’s right!)

Sticks and stones will break your bones
They seldom let you snooze
Spooky scary skeletons
Will wake you with a boo

Rap
Spooky scary skeletons
Play them bones like xylophones
When the lights go out and you’re all alone
When the phone go dead and nobody home
Then you hear them footsteps on the stairs
You creep a peek ain’t no one there
You see flashing disco chandeliers
Then dancing skeletons appear

Chorus
Spooky scary skeletons
Are silly all the same
They’ll smile and scrabble slowly by
And drive you so insane
(That’s right!)

Sticks and stones will break your bones
They seldom let you snooze
Spooky scary skeletons
Will wake you with a boo
(Laugh)
